They’ve figured it out.
The baby pink smiles,
The sunflower dresses,
And the the thinly rimmed glasses,
Were just the masks I wore.
They’ve figured it out.
The stacks of textbooks,
And piles of homework,
Were just mountains that hid my shadow.
The shadow that danced,
Sang,
Played,
Like they did.
The shadow that never wanted to be in the sunlight,
In fear that the truth,
Would merely make me,
One of them.
But they like it,
They like to know,
That the girl behind the:
The baby pink smiles,
The sunflower dresses,
And the the thinly rimmed glasses,
Is not morally superior.
Now I’m just,
One of them,
With worn out camouflage.
